Even though it was widely successful in the movie theatres and its subsequent releases, it seemed that Drive kind of came and went from our minds as avid moviegoers and that’s really a shame. Even if you get your movie channels through places like http://www.cable.tv/ or the like, you might have noticed how it was available and then it just sort of disappeared. So how does a movie that was critically acclaimed like Drive just suddenly disappear from the minds of the general public and the film community?

Simple, really. Drive was unlike anything many of us had ever seen. It was unconventional. Sure, the actual story itself wasn’t something super remarkable but that wasn’t the real draw of the movie, it was how the story was told that really defined it from all the rest. You had a protagonist who rarely spoke and you didn’t even know his name, yet you knew everything about this character purely through their actions and his actions were both devastating and absolutely terrifying. His actions created a kind of tension not many of us have felt in a protagonist or a situation and that was what sealed the deal when it came to this movie’s legacy and reputation as a unique and exceptional classic. Forgotten or not.
